Week beginning 2nd November and 9th November 2020
Remembrance is an ideal time to bring people of all ages and backgrounds together to reflect upon the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces, and to join together in the hope for a brighter, peaceful future.
As the champions of Remembrance and the UK’s leading Armed Forces charity, The Royal British Legion brings the whole nation together on 11 November every year. A vital part of our work is to support the teaching of Remembrance across the UK, from schools to youth clubs to individuals who simply take an what we can learn from the wars of the past.
Teaching Remembrance is key to understanding how modern diverse Britain was created and the shared heritage of service and sacrifice across all the UK’s communities. It also allows us to better comprehend what those who served, both on the front-line and at home, went through.
We will be adding a Peace and Remembrance garden to our courtyard area and the children will be involved in designing and constructing this area.
There are also tips below on how you can develop your own Remembrance garden or area at home. Please send me photos if this is something you decide to do at home.
