Lunchtimes for Reception, Years 1, 2 and 3 take place between 12 pm and 1 pm. Most children take advantage of the Universal Infant Free School Meals initiative. Lunchtimes for Years 4, 5 and 6 take place between 12.15 pm and 1.15 pm.
After they have eaten, children have time to play, join a club or complete home learning at the ‘Home Learning Club’.
Our playgrounds are extensively marked with games or puzzles for children to complete. In fine weather we also take out giant board games and make use of our large playing fields. Younger children may also be taught new playground games by older children who contribute as ‘Young Play Leaders’ to make lunchtimes more enjoyable.
Between 1 pm and 1.15 pm (depending on year group) we start our afternoon activities. During the afternoon sessions, children might be involved in Music, Art, Humanities, Personal Social and Health Education lessons, or Physical Education activities, such as swimming. During the afternoon sessions, children are involved in working on their Topic Work. This is a cross curricular approach where children work towards extending their knowledge and understanding of topic areas and application of basic skills.
Acts of Worship
At 10.25 am on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday we meet for assembly across school.
On Tuesday this takes place at 2.50 pm. Assemblies take place as ‘whole school or phased assemblies’.
Assemblies are also used to share achievement or a time when we welcome visitors. Assemblies are planned over the course of the year and arranged into themes. There are opportunities for stories, hymns or songs and quiet reflection and prayer. Celebration assemblies take place each Friday by Year group.
