We are excited to share with parents that we are introducing a new digital reading log from September 2024, hosted by Learning with Parents, to replace paper reading diaries. Learning with Parents encourages parents to engage in their child’s learning because this has a positive impact on how much children learn at school. Learning with Parents promotes families learning together and breaking down with barriers to home learning. We believe parents are their child’s biggest influencer and a parent who shows how much they value learning is a great role model.
Some of the key advantages of introducing a digital reading log:
- Families will be able to follow and encourage their child’s reading journey.
- Families will be able to access the reading log via an app on a mobile phone/tablet making it easier and quicker to log reading completed at home.
- Pupils will earn points and stars for reading completed at home.
- Families will be sent reminders to log reading done at home. Feedback can include a short comment, video or photo to show you enjoying reading together.
- There will no longer be any need to complete a paper diary and sent it back and fourth between home and school.
- The school staff are excited to share your child’s reading journey with you.
We hope families build a shared love of reading and learning through the time they spend together sharing books. For any families wanting to know more about Learning with Parents you can use this link to check out their website: Learning with parents.
In order to reap the benefits of this new scheme, we must ensure it is implemented consistently across school. We will therefore no longer supply paper reading diaries. We need digital reading logs to become a day-to-day function for staff, parents/carers and pupils to ensure children receive the education and support they require. Our updated pupil and parent privacy notice can be located here: GDPR
Parents will soon receive an email from Learning with Parents with a “magic link” to give them access to their child’s digital reading log. Can we please ask you to engage with this scheme as soon as you receive your link (just click on the orange button which says “Go to Site”), so that we can continue to work together to support your child’s reading journey in the best possible way.
Should you have any technical issues accessing your child’s digital reading log or using the app please contact Learning with Parents directly by email (hello@learningwithparents.com) or use their contact us form.
Your ongoing support is much appreciated.
